One of my patients today had Chiari Malformation. I had to look it up and read about it after they left. I remembered it was neuro, remembered I did at one point know all about it.. and then never used said knowledge again. Very sweet patient.. and I'll keep him/her in my thoughts when they have surgery in two weeks. I hope it goes well.

man, f'ing people drs. always wanting something crappy named after them. i mean, "palatoschisis"? easy to remember. but "chiari"?? wtf?!

I'm a Chiari patient, having had 12 brain and spine surgeries for various reasons. On behalf of Chiarians, thanks for taking the time to look it up and wishing your patient well. We often are just brushed aside by doctors with an attitude of, "Well I don't know what that is, so it must not be that serious." Your outlook is refreshing. Thanks again. :)
